Method of Raising the Gudi

During Gudi Padwa, the Gudi is raised outside the main entrance of the house as a symbol of victory, prosperity, and the beginning of the Hindu New Year. It is traditionally placed on the right side of the entrance, which represents the active and positive energy of the soul.

1. Prepare the Place
First clean the area where the Gudi will be placed. Draw a Swastik rangoli on the ground and apply turmeric (haldi) and vermilion (kumkum) at the center of the Swastik as a mark of auspiciousness.

2. Invoke Divine Energy
While preparing to raise the Gudi, devotees remember and invoke the Shiva–Shakti divine energy so that the sacred elements of the Gudi receive positive spiritual vibrations.

3. Set the Base
Place a small plate or vessel on the spot where the rangoli is drawn. Spread some rice grains in the plate and position the bamboo stick upright in the rice. A traditional sweet offering is also kept as naivedya, commonly Puran Poli.

4. Decorate the Gudi
Tie a clean new cloth or sari to the bamboo stick. Decorate it with flowers, neem leaves, and sugar garlands (gathi). Wrap everything neatly with thread and place a copper or silver kalash (gadu) upside down on the top of the bamboo.

5. Raise the Gudi
Finally, place the decorated bamboo in the prepared base and raise the Gudi proudly outside the entrance. It is believed to bring good luck, prosperity, and positive energy to the home.

This sacred ritual marks the joyful beginning of Gudi Padwa celebrations and welcomes a year filled with happiness and success.

Made from high-quality fabric with an elegant golden border, this Gudi cloth features colorful pom-pom tassels that enhance its festive appeal. The rich green color symbolizes growth, harmony, and new beginnings, making it ideal for welcoming the Hindu New Year. With an approximate length of 36 inches, it is perfectly sized to hang on doors, balconies, or entrance areas.

Traditionally, the Gudi is hoisted outside homes to mark victory, happiness, and prosperity. This ready-to-use decorative Gudi makes festival preparation easy while maintaining cultural authenticity. Simply hang it on your door or entrance to create a festive and spiritual atmosphere.

Perfect for home decoration, temple entrances, festive celebrations, and gifting, this Gudi Padwa decoration is a meaningful way to celebrate tradition and spread positivity.
