🌞 Traditional Way to Raise the Gudi
1️⃣ Prepare the Area – Clean the selected spot at your doorway or balcony. Draw a Swastik rangoli and offer turmeric and vermilion (Haldi-Kumkum) at its center.
2️⃣ Invoke Divine Energy – While raising the Gudi, invoke the universal Shiva–Shakti principle so that the sacred setup absorbs positive vibrations.
3️⃣ Base Preparation – Place a wooden plank (chowki/channel) where the rangoli is drawn. Spread rice over it and position the bamboo stick firmly. Offer sweets as prasad — traditionally Puran Poli is prepared as an oblation.
4️⃣ Decorate the Bamboo – Tie this clean, traditional cloth at the top of a medium-length bamboo stick. Add fresh flowers, neem leaves, and sugar garland (gathi). Secure everything with thread and place a clean copper, bronze, or silver pot (Gadu) upside down over the top.
5️⃣ Hoist the Gudi – Finally, raise the Gudi in a prominent position at the entrance of your home where it is clearly visible. The Gudi is traditionally worshipped five to ten minutes after sunrise to mark the beginning of the New Year.
