Shree Swami Samartha was a revered Indian Hindu spiritual master of the sacred Dattatreya tradition, who lived during the nineteenth century. Swami Samartha traveled extensively across the Indian subcontinent, guiding seekers on the path of devotion, righteousness, and self-realization. In 1856, he finally established his spiritual abode at Akkalkot, a sacred village located in the present-day Solapur District of Maharashtra. It is believed that he arrived in Akkalkot on a Wednesday during September or October, a day considered especially auspicious by his followers. He resided there for nearly 22 years, blessing devotees and spreading spiritual awakening.
In 1878, Shree Swami Samartha attained Samadhi, but his divine presence and teachings continue to illuminate the lives of countless followers. His messages emphasize faith, devotion, inner strength, and surrender to the Guru, offering guidance through life’s challenges. Even today, the Akkalkot Swami Samartha Ashram stands as a powerful center of devotion and pilgrimage, drawing devotees seeking peace, protection, and spiritual fulfillment.
